Overwolf & Forgotten Hope 2

SgtAlex

Question

This isn't actually a question but a solution for those who want to see who is speaking on TS3 in game. That's what Overwolf is meant to do, but as it doesnt recognise Forgotten Hope it's quite useless in this case. Other solution is installing a plugin for TS3 but I've heard it doesnt work fine.

So, we are going to manually add Forgotten Hope 2 to Overwolf supported games list so it will recognise it. Here it's what you need to do:

  1. Obviously you need Overwolf, make sure it isn't running. Same for Teamspeak.
  2. Press home(windows key, between ctrl and alt)+R and type %localappdata%/Overwolf      or go to        C:\Users\<YOUR_USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\Overwolf
  3. Make a backup of GameList.xml, just in case we screw it up. Name it as you want, f.e: GameList_backup.xml
  4. Open GameList.xml with wordpad, so we can edit.
  5. Move to the end of the file, check the last ID number between <ID>number</ID> under <GameInfo> (It will be needed on step 6).
  6. Copy this at the end of the file, just before </ArrayOfGameInfo>
    • NOTE: here the ID number is the next of the previous ID. It's actually a counter, so it must be the previous ID+1. In my case last ID was 109021, so I set 109022
  7. <GameInfo>
      <ID>109022</ID>
      <GameTitle>Forgotten Hope 2 (BF2 Mod)</GameTitle>
      <LuancherNames>
          <string>ForgottenHope2.exe</string>
      </LuancherNames>
      <GameRenderers>D3D9</GameRenderers>
      <InjectionDecision>Supported</InjectionDecision>
      <RunElevated>true</RunElevated>
      <LauncherDirectoryRegistryKey>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\InstallDir</LauncherDirectoryRegistryKey>
      <LaunchParams>+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +restart 1</LaunchParams>
      <GameGenres>Shooter_First-Person</GameGenres>
      <XPSupport>NotSupported</XPSupport>
      <Input>DInput8</Input>
      <FixDIFocus>true</FixDIFocus>
      <TerminateOnWindowClose>true</TerminateOnWindowClose>
      <AllowCursorMix>true</AllowCursorMix>
      <SupportedVersion>0.51.325</SupportedVersion>
      <Launchable>True</Launchable>
      <FixRCEx>True</FixRCEx>
      <UseEH>6;10</UseEH>
    </GameInfo>

  8. Save & exit. Now you can run TS3, overwolf and try it on FH2.

Here you can see how it looks like:

Configuration:

I've selected bottom left corner because nothing of the game is shown there. You can choose the screen corner doing the following in overwolf:

1. Right click on icon -> Show panel

2. Click on TS3 icon:

3. Click on the tool(wrench) icon:

I hope it helps.

Oeverwolf sometimes working on me and sometimes not... I found ts viewer... Simple it is, only see who is talking in channel, not showing whispers or CC...

I found out that the XML file is updated and overwrite on each Overwolf update, so if it works one day and then it doesnt, repeat steps to add FH2 manually to the XML

@Incognito wrote, may I be allowed to quote him:

Additional notes: I tested out an overlay for TeamSpeak called TSNotifier. It does the job, but I don't know how it affects the performance.
I didn't notice any problems though.

I tested it too and it really works :clappingorange:

Install the TSNotifier from the shown link at first, then the Helper Plugin.

I was using Ts notifier with TS3 in WIN7. However When i upgraded to WIN10. It is crashing the game or game even not starting up... Couldn't find how to fix it. But i will try Overwolf, which is too complicated to configurate the thing.
