We would like to give a quick and short information regarding the next Forgotten Hope 2 Campaign. Everyone is working hard in the backstage. Things are going as planned. Maps are being prepared, armies setups are in the final touches, regiments logos are ready and much more is being worked on. The plan is to open the campaign in March. More news will come soon! Thank you for your patience.

Fortunately this is unlikely to ever actually happen A new NASA video shows a simulation of what would happen if all the world's oceans were to drain away. In recent years we've heard a lot about the potential for sea levels to rise due to global warming, but what would things be like if the opposite were to happen and the sea simply disappeared ? In a recently updated version of a NASA simulation originally created by physicist and animator Horace Mitchell, planetary scientist James O'Donoghue, who now works at the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA), has shown just what such a scenario might be like. The footage shows what would happen if the oceans started to disappear, first exposing the hidden areas of land surrounding the continents and then moving on to the deeper parts of the sea. Some of these areas of land were actually exposed relatively recently during the last ice age when a lot of the world's water was locked up in huge ice sheets. Some of our ancestors would have used these land bridges to spread to otherwise inaccessible parts of the world. "I slowed down the start since, rather surprisingly, there's a lot of undersea landscape instantly revealed in the first tens of meters," said O'Donoghue. "When the last ice age occurred, a lot of ocean water was locked up as ice at the poles of the planet. That's why land bridges used to exist. Each of these links enabled humans to migrate, and when the ice age ended, the water sort of sealed them in." By the time the simulation reaches 10,000 meters below sea level, pretty much all the water has gone. Fortunately though, such a scenario is incredibly unlikely to actually occur in real life. OK Boomer Posted by: Eat Uranium 26.01.2020 19:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update. Today we are showing off a render of another Italian explosive and some information on some new tools for some of our sniper kits on Eastern Front maps. The B4 landmine is the first anti-personnel mine designed for the Italian Army. Designed in 1935, it saw extensive use by the Italians during the war, though it would prove costly and would ultimately be replaced by simpler models. The B4 is designed to be fixed above ground to a stake or tree and be detonated via tripwire. The cylindrical casing includes a flat area with 6 sharp spikes that could be pushed into a tree trunk. The internal explosive chamber was surrounded by metal fragments, that would be thrown in all directions upon detonation. The B4 was occasionally buried. Ours was made by Matt Baker. The German B-Patrone and the Soviet PZ were standard rifle calibre explosive bullets intended to be used for range setting of machineguns. Such projectiles had been prohibited by the Declaration of St Petersburg in 1868 for use against men, but they were in common use by snipers on both sides of the Eastern Front. In February 1945, German snipers were even officially issued 20 bullets each for use on the Eastern Front only. Absolutely devastating in use, these bullets were used in situations where an absolutely certain kill was needed.

Another step towards a sustained human presence on the Moon A new technique could help make it possible for humans to live on the lunar surface in the not-too-distant future. In order for mankind to live on the Moon or Mars without having to rely on resources sent from Earth, it will be of critical importance to be able to produce the essentials - such as water and oxygen - from the natural resources available on those worlds. To this end, scientists at the University of Glasgow in Scotland have come up with a way to produce oxygen from the regolith found on the Moon using a method known as molten salt electrolysis. It is not the first such technique to have been developed, but it is the most promising, given that alternatives are generally too difficult, too destructive or produce far too little yield to be worth it. The new method also has the added benefit of producing metal alloys as a waste product. So far it has proven effective at producing oxygen using a simulant of lunar regolith and plans are now in motion to set up the first ever prototype large-scale oxygen plant at the European Space Agency's European Space Research and Technology Center in the Netherlands. "Having our own facility allows us to focus on oxygen production, measuring it with a mass spectrometer as it is extracted from the regolith simulant," said chemist Beth Lomax. "Being able to acquire oxygen from resources found on the Moon would obviously be hugely useful for future lunar settlers, both for breathing and in the local production of rocket fuel." If everything goes to plan, the team's efforts could lead to the development of a facility that can be set up on the Moon itself to supply future lunar dwellers with all the oxygen they need. "ESA and NASA are heading back to the Moon with crewed missions, this time with a view towards staying," said ESA's Tommaso Ghidini. "Accordingly we're shifting our engineering approach to a systematic use of lunar resources in-situ." The Spitfire was a staple of the RAF's defense efforts Mathematicians have used statistical models to calculate how different WW2 strategies would have played out. The Battle of Britain - which saw a relatively small number of Royal Air Force (RAF) planes defend the skies over the UK against the much larger force of Germany's Luftwaffe - is often regarded to be one of the most pivotal moments of the Second World War. But what if Hitler had tried a different tactic - would it have ever been possible for him to win ? Now in a renewed effort to answer this question, mathematicians from the University of York have used statistical models to determine the likely outcome of various alternative strategies. "The weighted bootstrap technique allowed us to model alternative campaigns in which the Luftwaffe prolongs or contracts the different phases of the battle and varies its targets," said Dr. Jamie Wood. The results of the analysis suggested that if the Luftwaffe had started its attack 3 months earlier and had focused on Britain's airfields instead of its cities, the outcome would have been very different. If the likelihood of the RAF's success was 50% in the real battle, these changes would have reduced the chances of a victory over the Luftwaffe to a mere 10%. "It demonstrates just how finely-balanced the outcomes of some of the biggest moments of history were," said Professor Niall Mackay. "Even when we use the actual days' events of the battle, make a small change of timing or emphasis to the arrangement of those days and things might have turned out very differently."
