  1. I saw some footage of extreme police overreaction from the Hamburg protests Papi. I don't claim to know what happened in this case, but it seems to me that often riots get started when police overreact.
Violence against innocent private citizens and their property can never be justified of course. Nobody in their right mind could even think that this would even further the cause - it has the exact opposite effect.
What's really disturbing is that every fringe group has its own definition of the establishment and its own interpretation of the establishment's reaction to its own agenda. But call me leftist if you want (as a small business owner, that would make me laugh actually) but if the ultra-rich stopped fixing the game to suit their own interests, put money into improving society instead of tearing it down to suit their own ends and stopped ensuring that they win every single match, then my educated guess would be that a lot of the fringe activity on both sides would die down. Economic liberals will argue "yes but that will stop innovation". Rubbish. True innovators will have a better shot at making it to the top. The ultra rich will still be filthy rich and every one would be a lot happier. It defies belief that this class of people hasn't learned from a global history that is a long list of people's revolutions.

  2. Stay put... half of Europe will be at the same level as South America within 10 years anyway, the rate things are going with everything weighted towards the ultra-wealthy and corrupt inept politicians managing things. And much of the USA already seems to be there. The Far East will be the place to be, IMHO.

Scandinavia may be the last place to fall, but getting a permit to live here if you're from outside the EU is harder these days than actually getting rich.

  3. All the evidence points towards us having pretty much peaked as a species and, despite some interesting developments in electronic diversions and minor space travel, our culture is still pretty undeveloped from that of basic primates.

But Douglas Adams did have some interesting theories about aquatic mammals and pollen-collecting hive cultures.

  4. Best: Being back in this game

Worst: No player tags and resulting confusion.

Funniest: When I TKed Ensign in a Bren from close up because of no tags and similarity between Russian and Finnish helmets.

Most hated player: I hope it was me because I was BAD

Most loved/liked player: MosesHerodez because he's my little son

Other: First time I played FH2 where all the maps are unfamiliar. Will make for an interesting campaign I think.

  5. OK some perspective. The Tommy Robinson demos in London yesterday led to a grand total of four arrests.

    Four arrests. That's all.

Now I'm not an Antifa militant - I don't attend demos etc... but I am strongly anti-fascist. Yet how can anyone claim that the police are supporting left-wing demonstrators over right wing demonstrators after what happened in London yesterday? If left wing demonstrators had been as violent, we'd have seen arrests probably approaching triple figures.

Only dawn raids and arrests based on video footage will convince me that there is no police bias here. And it's not the one may of you seem to be thinking.

  6. FWIW MosesHerodez PC is with an O/C i7 6700, 8GB, SSD and a 1050Ti and that runs pretty much anything on 1080 at pretty high settings, even Kingdom Come Deliverance.

  7. SSD is essential if you want to get any kind of performance out of the rest of the gear on your specs sheet.
Also your MB should have a slot for the even faster SSDs, so it's silly not to take advantage.

Until I upgraded a couple of months ago I was able to run some games on very high specs on a 10-year old PC that officially couldn't run them, simply because I was running an SSD. It makes that much difference.

Can't see any difference in games between 8 and 16 GB so 32 is overkill unless you're using it for productivity as well as gaming.
I use mine for music editing and taking out a RAM block to put in the PC I built for MosesHerodez to play on has screwed up productivity so need to buy another 8gb block.

If you're only gaming, do you even need 8700K? Am running an i5 8400 and performance on the games I play is exceptional, even with an old 970 card.

TBH you could also even consider a second hand setup with a 2600K for gaming. I have one of those too and performance is excellent even on something like Kingdom Come Deliverance, as long as you don't go beyond 1080.

If you want to optimise for gaming without going too over budget, spend more on graphics card and SSD and less on CPU and RAM.

  8. And here's one of me and Moses Herodez liking a Hurricane (Neil Young reference for those old enough) at the Bomber Command museum near York a decade later... Also a great day out.

  9. Moses Herodez will probably hate me for this as he's on these pics when he was aged about 8.... but I don't have any without him on.
Bangsbo Fort in Northern Jutland. Also visited the gigantic Hirtshals 10 Battery museum earlier the same day which was a great day out - got to ride the ammo train but sadly no pics.

  10. I'm up to episode 2 of Altered Carbon. Really enjoying it - but yes, very very derivative of Blade Runner.  I can't get enough of flying cars and bleak dystopian cityscapes so I'm fine with it.
Other great news is series 2 of "Westworld" which is coming a lot earlier in the year than I was expecting.

  11. Here's an interesting one... I have 2 BF2 discs but lost the key for one of them. As we're going to be playing 2 players next campaign, I thought I would have to get hold of another key. But it turns out the insert key in registry in unencrypted version registers as a different key so we can play 2 on servers using effectively the same key. I tested it on public and it works. Using the same standard encrypted registry key only allowed one online at a time last time I tried this a couple of years ago. Anyone know what's changed or why this is now possible? Was all set to buy another copy second hand just for the extra key....
