  1. It's tough to be honest.

there is a lot of bush og on Hill, making for good mg camping spots.

We always swing to and fro between having spawn mg42s or not.

My personal opinion is that for attack they are not good as you need to lie down, on the other hand they are really really deadly for defense.

So I would now rather have the mg34 as spawn and mg42 as pickup. Historical or not.

  3. On Friday, the Future of Life Institute—an AI watchdog organization that has made a name for itself through its campaign to stop killer robots—released a nightmarish short film imagining a future where smart drones kill.

The short is called ‘Slaughterbots,’ and it channels the near-future dystopias depicted in Black Mirror in an attempt to raise awareness about the dangers of autonomous weapons.

The film opens with a Silicon Valley CEO-type delivering a product presentation to a live audience a la Steve Jobs. The presentation seems innocuous enough at first—the presenter seems to be unveiling some new drone technology—but takes a dark turn when he demonstrates how these autonomous drones can slaughter humans like cattle by delivering “a shaped explosive” to the skull.

  4. Good morning gentlemen,

Emotions are in high demand and usage currently. A heated exchange of opinions about how to balance the maps is done every week, full of tensions and conflicting opinions and insults being exchanged on a regular basis. The focus got lost and was mostly around the wrong topics, leading to a loss of the overall map balance. Loss of a battle often leads to insinuations of unfair and biased setups designed to make one team et al.

Also, the switch of the regiments is of course not being welcomed by everyone and may be seen as a one-sided intervention of the admin side. Which it is not. It was a hard decision we took after consulting with both affected regiments and the HQs.

Essentially, the usual dramas that campaign seemingly always need go through. I personally highly dislike this.

So, to bring everyone hopefully back to a calm and relaxed playing, let me say the following

    1. We take the drama out of the map balancing. Simple as that. I prepare a layout, HQ can comment and put up proposal with a cut off time of midnight UTC on Tuesday. We discuss in a civil manner, and in the end I decide. I am not biased towards the one or the other army.
    2. For the next campaign we implement a Equipment Buying Scheme. Each army gets an amount of credits and buy the equipment per battle as they please. The scheme will price each item (kits, tanks, planes, ships) considering the strength of the equipment as well as it being rare or common. Right now we are beginning to develop this, which is not an easy task by itself. We hope that this will give more freedom and liberty to the armies.
    3. We skip the two planned Continuation War FI vs RU maps, as the regiments would now be on the wrong side. We will try to get a 80% FI vs RU as next campaign by harnessing the maps we already have and by converting some existing ones to the Finnish Theatre.

So, let's try and enjoy the last four battles of the campaign, stop the infighting and bickering, and play the game!

    Yours sincerely, Papillon

    (ruining map balances since 2020)
