It has been just under two years now since a Road to... news update was last posted here, and we are pleased to be able to say that the wait is over. Forgotten Hope 2.53 will be going live on: Friday 25th May 2018 We'd all like to extend a big thank you to all our fans who have continued to play over the last decade or more, and we hope to see you on the servers this Friday! Additionally, we would like to thank our team of betatesters for their dedication to improving our work, as well as our developers for the time and effort they put in to make things happen. Last but not least, none of this would be possible without the web hosting generously provided by Fluestertuete. Lets kick things off by showing off the trailer for version 2.53 made by @Hawk: Be sure to come back as the week progresses to see more news before the final update! That's all for today, but be sure to come back later for another update. RAnDOOm Posted May 23, 2018 Author Posted May 23, 2018 The Road to Forgotten Hope 2.53 Part 2 Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update. Today we are showing off the fourth and final map to make it into version 2.53 update. You may have just seen it in the trailer posted earlier today, but for those of you who haven't yet, today's map is Ihantala. It covers the assaults by the Red Army against the Finnish defences in and around the village of Ihantala at the end of June 1944. Ihantala was made by Flippy Warbear and hitm4k3r. June 1944, Karelian Isthmus. On the 28th, as the gruelling battle of Tali rages on, Finnish reinforcements from East Karelia arrive at the village of Ihantala and are immediately thrown into the combat. After fending off the Red Army in southern Ihantala, Major General Vihma’s 6th Division begin preparing their defenses. The bitter fighting at Tali had become a lost cause. Therefore on the 30th, under the orders of Lt.General Oesch, the Finns reorganise into a new defensive line. The Red Army attacks Ihantala on the same day. With support from their powerful artillery, along with the German Luftwaffe detachment Kuhlmey and the 303rd Sturmgeschutz Brigade, the Finns brace themselves for the relentless Red Army assaults... RAnDOOm Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 The Road to Forgotten Hope 2.53 Part 3 Posted by: Eat Uranium 23.05.2018 18:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update. We are showing off a render today, but before we get to that we have the link to the files needed by server administrators to get their servers set up and running in time for the release of 2.53. You can find these files here. You do not need to download these files unless you administer a server. The files required to play 2.53 will be available through the Launcher. The original design of the Suomi KP/-31 had not included a muzzle brake, and the addition of the lengthy device in 1940 was opposed by Aimo Lahti, who had originally designed the weapon. It was of questionable effectiveness, and since roughly half of the weapons in Finnish service did not have the new muzzle brake, we have got Stubbfan to remove it from Seth Soldier's original model. The Nebelhandgranate 39B is a smoke grenade based on the German Model 24 stick grenade. The explosive filling is replaced by a mix of chemicals that when ignited would produce a dense white smoke that was emitted through holes cut in the base of the grenade's body. The white lines were added to the body and stick to aid identification, and Seth Soldier has also included the grooves that were added later to aid identification in the dark. To go along with this render, we also have a handful of screenshots showing some of the new content coming in 2.53. Finally, Ts4EVER has posted a blog update giving a nice overview of the four new maps. Go read it here. Quote
RAnDOOm Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 The Road to Forgotten Hope 2.53 Part 4 Posted by: Eat Uranium 24.05.2018 18:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update. Today we are showing off a final render before tomorrow's big update! The AVT-40 is a select fire modification to the Soviet SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle. A thicker stock and a slightly modified muzzle break were added to counteract the extra force of fully automatic fire, but the rifle proved difficult to control and suffered from frequent breakages. Put into production in May 1942 to supplement the shortage of light machineguns, it was out of production again by the following summer. Our AVT-40 has been made by Seth Soldier. Finally today, we'd like to list some of the changes in version 2.53: 1 New Nation: Poland 4 New maps: Ihantala Lenino Ogledów Studienka 8 New weapons, including: Lahti L-35 Luftfaust B G33/40(t) Bren Mk.2 11 New vehicles and stationary weapons, including: Ferdinand T-34 model 1941 PM-43 120mm Mortar Junkers Ju 87G-1 Studebaker US6 ZPU Many further changes, including: New 16 and 32 layers for St.Vith and Totalize Selectable ironsights for sniper rifles Improved lighting and balance for several maps Improved handling of halftracks on hills Many weapons have new first and third person animations Contested flags are now marked on the minimap by a flashing icon A more detailed changelog can be seen here. 4 Quote
