Here you can find a History of the 121st Engineer Battalion - which stormed the beaches on D-Day as a part of the 29th Infantry Division. 

As a summary - the 121st helped lead the way following their motto "Praevius" landing at Easy Green Sector on Omaha Beach.

Easy Green Sector was a head on, middle assault into the D-3 exit at the Les Moulins / St. Laurent draw - the adjacent draw on the left flank of the more famous Vierville draw.

The regiment suffered 50% casualties & 75% equipment loss on the initial landing, as well as losing their commanding officer before he was able to leave his landing craft.
