DLCs

Our downloadable content (DLCs) are different from other games, as we partner with developers and publishers to bring their games into Tabletop Simulator. Each DLC is custom created with high quality assets and special themes that match their games. And best of all, only the host needs to own the DLC for everyone at the table to play

Frequently Asked Questions

Spoiler

  • Don’t I have to buy games separately from the Steam store to be able to play them?

No. The games that are sold in the Tabletop Simulator store page are all officially licensed versions of their real-life counterparts that are programmed and designed to work with the Simulator. From the Steam Workshop, you can find whatever board games people have converted and provided, but their quality may vary.

  • Do I need a VR headset to play the game?

No. You do not need one to be able to play. Hovever, it is an option for some more "affluent" gamers. The game supports and works just fine with regular mouse and keyboard. You may launch the game in normal setup, VR-ready setup and OpenGL-setup (for low-end PC's).

The game's physics engine is very fluent in controls and it works intuitively even with a mouse.

  • What kind of games should I expect to find from the Workshop?

Most of the games provided are simply photo scans of different tabletop games that are pasted as textures to basic board templates. Most subscribed games in the workshop are two card games, that have simply scanned the decks (UNO and Cards Against Humanity) However, may of the are very extensive recreations of original board games with custom models for tokens. For example, nearly every version of Axis & Allies have been recreated with custom 3D-models. You can also find detailed sets of miniatures for Warhammer 40K and World War 2.

  • Can I play some Pen&Paper-games, like RPGs?

Yes! If you can find a proper set and setting for such. There are many different premade setups for RPG-adventures in the Workshop. Mostly they are DnD/GURPS-styled tables with programmed character sheets that you can fill in with mouse and keyboard. The objects can be saved and the sheets can be stored for later date. You can use additional utilities and resources from the Workshop to spice up the visual aspects of the story.

  • I would like to play games in my native language? Can I find translated games or people hosting non-English games?

There are multiple games translated in the Workshop into different locales. There is a relatively large community for Spanish, French, German and Russian localizations. Finding those versions, of course, depends on the available translations in the Workshop.
