  1. I've been highly interested in the Nintendo Switch myself, but haven't gotten around to getting one. Not really a console guy, but we really would need one at the office for testing purposes. If we can get our games working on that as well it would mean more potential customers.

  2. I wanted to wish all you fellas happy holidays, whatever you might be celebrating! Thanks for making my 2017 a buttload better than it would have otherwise been.

In honor of the shortest days of the year, I'll share with you my favorite winter solstice story.

    Quote

In Norse mythology, the great god Odin rode an eight-legged white horse named Sleipnir, a supernatural beast capable of leaping great distances. At the height of Yuletide—on the day after the winter solstice—Odin led a great hunting party across the sky in celebration of the return of the sun.

Children would place their boots by the fireplace and fill them with treats for Sleipnir. Odin, commonly depicted as a bearded, mysterious old man, then repaid them for their kindness by leaving food, candy and gifts in their stead.

Odin had a son—Baldur—together with Frigga, the goddess of Love. Baldur was the God of Light and Spring, and all things right and good.

Following his mother's prophetic nightmare in which Hel, the goddess who ruled the underworld, took him into her realm, Baldur was killed with an arrow carved from mistletoe. Fortunately, Frigga was able to bring her son back to life, but not before her tears had turned into pearly white berries on the mistletoe plant.

The gods decreed that whoever should stand beneath the mistletoe from this day forth, no harm would befall them; only a kiss—a token of love.

Stay safe, stay happy, thank you for 2017!

  3. During the last battle (Westwall) of FH2 campaign #2 the Germans had the ME 262. While fighting it during the match and testing it before/after, I noticed that the plane's flight model is highly wonky.

    - The plane is super fast and can climb like a rocket. This is fine since the ME 262 could outrun everything thrown at it in real life.

    - The plane can outmaneuver any fighter. Two P-51 Mustangs couldn't keep up or outmaneuver it in any situation.

By combining both superior speed and agility, the plane is near-impossible to defeat. In order to keep the ME 262 balanced, I would suggest lowering its agility by a lot, the speed is fine as it should be the biggest strength the plane has.

  4. Suomi 100 - Finland 100

    Have some music, fellas.

First some tunes of war in the form of  march music.

How many translated German marches can you recognize?

Vöyrin Marssi... Some of the lyrics can be a bit controversial, but it's still something we used to sing a lot while drinking. :D

Not music, but some tank combat!

Finally the Finlandia hymn. This one is beautiful.

Just saw the trailer and, besides I understood shit, it looks great!

Any link to download it on the original language? And subtitles in english at least

If you click on the closed captions [CC] button, you'll get English subtitles for the trailer.

The movie is currently shown only in Finland. Sweden will get it on our independence day (6.12) and after that... I don't know. A DVD/BR rip should appear later on.

  6. Saw The Unknown Soldier (Tuntematon Sotilas, 2017) on Saturday.

    Holy fucking shit.

The old black and white one from 1955 had some kind of positive vibe and message in it, but this one doesn't play around. There is no positive message, there is no hope. It shows how fucking horrible war is in a way I haven't seen before. It's tough to say what exactly they did what I experienced as especially powerful. It might be the fact that I was kind of expecting the morale boosting banter and 'don't worry guys, we'll be fine!' mentality from the book and the old movie but all I got was gritty scenes of wounded soldiers screaming and crying in pain in bloodcurdling voices, a thick atmosphere of constant fear and anxiety and the pain of losing friends and fellow soldiers you count upon. And it was three hours long. An even longer series is coming out later.

The battle scenes were shot beautifully, mostly from the viewpoint of the soldiers themselves and they even got some real T-34's driving around and wrecking shit. A couple of really nice Allahu Akbar scenes as well!

I'm giving the film 9/10 points, but I might be biassed though because Finland, the continuation war and all that. However, I honestly think most of you guys would really like this film.

Edit: Actually, I think I'm gonna go watch it again...

i completely agree with you. thinking about the mission we had the night before and looking at the screenshots one would like to hop on the server again and keep things going.
first two hours of the game were greatly entertaining even without a single shot fired. it's a gaming experience completely different to the more 'arcade' games i'm used to.

Just driving the car towards enemy territory was a rush. My heart was beating faster and I was annoying the others in the car by singing something stupid like I always do whenever I'm nervous. You could really feel the tension. It was simply intense the whole way through.
